As a successful candidate for the DIgital Scholarship Unit Internship, you'll participate in the Unit’s activities and help with scanning, preparing, and checking digital materials related to several key library projects. It’s an opportunity to get to work with a diverse group of people and understand more about library functions.
You meet the eligibility requirements of the YCW internship funding program. This means you (from the Government of Canada website):
are a Canadian citizen or a permanent resident, or have refugee status in Canada (non-Canadians holding temporary work visas or awaiting permanent status are not eligible);
are legally entitled to work in Canada;
will be between 16 and 30 years of age at the start of employment;
are willing to commit to the full duration of the work assignment;
will not have another full-time job (over 30 hours a week) while employed with the program;
are an unemployed or underemployed college or university graduate, that is, not employed full-time;
are a recent graduate who has graduated from college or university within the last 24 months at the start of employment;
are not receiving Employment Insurance (EI) benefits while employed with the program; and
have not previously participated in or been paid under this or any other Career Focus internship program funded under the Government of Canada's Youth Employment Strategy.
The YCW internship program is described in more detail here [2] We are seeking candidates that are comfortable with technology and that have the confidence and drive for continual learning. It is a bonus if you have demonstrated in your employment an interest in heritage, information technology, or libraries. . We encourage applications from Government of Canada’s job equity groups (i.e. youth with a disability, Aboriginal youth, visible minorities and new Canadians).
Located at the east-end of Toronto, Scarborough is ethnically diverse, full of beautiful natural scenery (as part of Toronto’s ravine system) and home to a well-respected food scene. The University of Toronto Scarborough’s new Aquatics Centre and Field House opened in 2015 for the Pan Am/Parapan Am. Games, representing a major investment in amateur sport. UTSC is also available through public transit to the Durham regions as well as downtown Toronto.
