It is the interpreter's job to bring history to life through dynamic, animated presentations and guided tours.

Primary responsibilities include presenting the stories of Queenston Heights National Historic Site as related to the military and social history of the War of 1812. Additional knowledge of other battle sites in the Niagara Region and an overall understanding of this war are an important aspect of delivering the details of the encounters on the Niagara Frontier. Duties will include station interpretation and providing walking tours of the battlefield. Administrative responsibilities related to the daily program operations.

The ability to present to large school groups, tour groups, national and international visitors is a primary function of this position. Clerical and administrative duties as related to a small book and gift shop. Heritage presenters will be required to wear period clothing/uniform, appropriate to 1812. All clothing will be provided.

Candidates will be at a university level, with an identified interest in Canadian history. Candidates must exhibit a demonstrated ability to interact with others, work in a team atmosphere, be self-motivated and enjoy dealing with the public-at-large.

A second language is a valued asset. Those candidates with conversational levels in French will be at an advantage and additional knowledge of other languages would be of benefit.

There is no public transportation to Brock's Monument and candidates would therefore have to provide their own means of transportation to the job site.
