Get ready for adventure! The Royal BC Museum is looking for two Learning Program Facilitators to take our Species at Risk travelling exhibition to northeast BC - Peace/Liard Region.

Under the guidance of the Learning Program Developer, Learning Department, the Learning Program facilitator will participate in the development delivery of species at risk programs for youth and for learners of all ages at public events in different communities across northeast BC this summer.

As the ideal candidate, you will know a lot about your community and culture, be an excellent communicator and enjoy speaking in public. You can be relied upon to provide outstanding customer service, and have the ability to serve as the Royal BC Museum’s “ambassador in the field” - creating opportunities for discussion and a deeper understanding of the region’s exceptional biodiversity.

Duties will include participating in training in Victoria in June of 2017.
Travel with, set up and interpret the Species at Risk Travelling Exhibition from the Royal BC Museum across northeastern BC in July and August. Using interpretation skills that are appropriate, positive, and current to deliver presentations and guide groups through the exhibition. Gathering, monitoring and tracking visitor feedback and the effective use of social media.

In order to be considered for this opportunity, you must have been a full-time student in the semester preceding the summer of 2017, and intend to return to full-time studies in a post-secondary program. Your upbeat, cheerful and “can-do” attitude will be a strong asset to the Royal BC Museum team. You will be responsible for communicating ecological information to the public, and working with community partners to gain exposure on local and provincial levels regarding species at risk.

The position will provide an exceptional experience for an emerging education, lands department, environmental science, or museum professional by virtue of the venue[s] in which the work experience takes place - a multi-faceted provincial museum and various regional-specific museums and community organizations. This experience will provide students with multiple perspectives and access to diverse professional staff.
Mentorships make for great new museum, land administrators and science educators.
