JOIN THE OWENS ART GALLERY'S TEAM THIS SUMMER AS OUR YCW EXHIBITION ASSISTANT!
The Owens Art Gallery at Mount Allison University, Sackville, New Brunswick, is seeking a summer intern for the position of YCW Exhibition Assistant. Working closely with the Director and the Curator of Digital Engagement, the intern will play a key role in the administration and delivery of a ground-breaking exhibition and one-day symposium devoted to disability arts practices and the relationship between language, physical movement, and power. They will be responsible for assembling a resource centre; coordinating accessibility services and didactic materials; liaising with artists regarding travel and installation materials; and assisting with preparations for a series of three art performances and for the symposium.

Candidates must be full-time university students with knowledge of contemporary visual and performance arts practices (e.g., though study in a Fine Arts, Art History, or Museums Studies program), as well as a basic understanding of open access and accessibility principles. Basic computer skills are required; familiarity digital audio editors, such as Audacity, audio-visual equipment, and a working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite applications, particularly Photoshop, would be an asset, although the Owens can provide training and experience in these areas. Priority will be given to Mount Allison University students.

This position is funded by the Young Canada Works in Heritage Institutions program. Applicants must be full-time university students between the ages of 16 and 30, and Canadian citizens or permanent residents entitled to work in Canada. Non-Canadian students holding a temporary work visa or awaiting permanent resident status are not eligible under the terms of the YCW program.

Term: 16 weeks, from 20 May to 6 September 2019
Salary is $16.50 per hour
