The Art Museum at the University of Toronto is seeking a Collections Assistant to assist the Collections Manager with the completion of an artwork inventory and delivery of the “Annual Renewable Loan Program” (ARLP) for the Art on Campus (AOC) Program. This program is an essential component of managing the 1,000+ artworks out on loan throughout the Art on Campus Program on the St. George campus. This position is planned to be 16 weeks long, from May through August. The position is a 37.5-hour work week, paid at $16/hour, from May to August.

The ideal candidate for the position of Collections Assistant will have a background and demonstrated knowledge – through education and volunteer or previous employment – in contemporary and historical Canadian art. The candidate is currently enrolled in post-secondary studies and are intending to return to school in the fall semester, preferably in the field of art history or museum studies.

The candidate will bring excellent communication and organizational skills, as well as the ability to work independently and in a team, with an emphasis on critical thinking, a great sense for detail, information accuracy and enthusiasm for art and history. The candidate will have proven experience with information management. For the role of Collections Assistant, it is preferred that the candidate have some prior experience with Collections Managements and digital databases.
