McIntosh Gallery seeks a Curatorial Assistant to engage in research towards an online resource attached to the McIntosh Gallery website. Under the supervision of the Curator, and working closely with the Registrar and Project Manager, the successful candidate will be responsible for compiling biographical information based on research in the city and region; coordinating video interviews with key individuals for insights into the political, economic, and social factors influencing their activities; organizing the information and digital images; writing content for potential web publication, liaising with community media to promote the project and invite new contributors; working with an advisory panel consisting of a former public gallery director and an art history professor; and determining copyright restrictions.
The employment period is 12 weeks from 13 May to 09 August 2019 at a salary of $15.00 per hour plus applicable benefits.
The ideal candidate will be a university student with some art history education, with exceptional written and oral communication skills, excellent research and organizational skills with attention to detail, above average computer experience and skills in word files and spreadsheets.The candidate will possess the ability to work independently, and to research and write clear, concise texts quickly. This position requires the ability to be self-motivated, to take initiative and to work collaboratively with administrative staff, students, and volunteers.
