The Grist Mill and Gardens at Keremeos is a provincial historic site that features spectacular gardens, fascinating heritage buildings and the only working waterwheel-powered flour mill in Western Canada.

In the four years the Grist Mill has seen incredible growth with a six-fold increase in attendance, thanks in part to a commitment to quality interpretation. Fueled by our talented and enthusiastic staff, we are united in our passion to being one of the fastest growing attractions in BC as we work to be an innovative leader in the heritage community.

We’re looking for someone who wants to join our team to help us coordinate our incredible roster of summer events. The selected candidate will work the site manager to ensure that our roster of summer events exceeds our visitors expectations.

Responsibilities:

This position will provide visitors with a memorable interpretive experience on the site during the 2017 summer season. Specific tasks include providing regular tours of the heritage buildings, gardens and other interpretive features on the site, developing and delivering themed workshops and presentations, represent the site at off-site events, contribute articles and other content to the site's blog and other social media channels, conduct minor research or assist with a variety of historical, agricultural or artistic projects happening on site through the season.

Qualifications:

* currently enrolled as student in Museum Studies, Education, Heritage Interpretation or a theatre program with a strong interest in educational programming and public presentation
* excellent communications and interpersonal skills
* computer literacy
* ability to work both independently and in a team
* ability to think creatively
* between 16 and 30 years of age and registered in the Young Canada Works candidate inventory
* willing to commit to working up to 40 hours per week from May 15 – September 4, 2017
