Summer Employment Opportunity
Start work on Monday May 1st to August 31st 2017 (Date closest to candidates return to studies.)
Spend your summer in the beautiful Crowsnest Pass as a Heritage Interpreter
Bellevue Alberta located in the Rocky Mountains: perfect for outdoor adventurists
Wage: $14.00 per hour
Average work week 35 hours
Four day on, two day off rotational schedule
Work at an authentic underground coal mine as a Heritage Interpreter
Visit Frank Slide Interpretive Center, The Crowsnest Museum and the Hillcrest Cemetery as part of your training

Job Description:
Interpretation of The Bellevue Underground Mine
Public Speaking
Customer Service: Greet and Orient visitors
Provide information about other historical sites and museums in the area.
Individual Project utilizes personal/academic interests and abilities. The project will be based on a specific museum duty.
Learn Interpretation Techniques
Learn and share the History of Underground Coal Mining in the Crowsnest Pass
Answer Phone
Work with computers: research, design, social media
Participate in the two special events. Canada Day Celebration and the Miner’s Picnic
Minimal Retail and cash register duties
Light janitorial and ground work


Must be returning to school as a full-time student in September
Must complete a Young Canada Works Candidate Eligibility Form and submit it to our deliver organization: Canadian Museums Association

Candidate Profile
• Academic majors in Museum Studies, Cultural Resource Management, Fine Arts, First Nation Studies, Education, Preforming Arts
• Fluency in spoken and written English
• Fluency in French or a second language
• Excellent computer skills in Microsoft Word, Adobe and Excel
• Basic computer graphic design: Ability to design ads, posters, brochures
• Ability to market with the Bellevue Underground Mine’s social media accounts
• Public Speaking
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Ability to retain facts and figures
• Numeracy, operate cash register, occasionally cash in/cash out
• Full-time students who are returning to studies
• St John’s level one First Aid Training
• A passion for people, museums, and history!
• Between the ages of 16-30.
• Must be complete a Young Canada Works, Candidate Eligibility Form and submit it to our delivery organization: Canadian Museums Association
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Strong time-management, problem-solving, interpersonal skills
• Research skills
• Leadership skills
• If hired must present a recent clear Criminal Record Check and a Vulnerable Persons check from the RCMP

The Bellevue Underground Mine interprets the history of Western Canadians mining communities through its tours and exhibits. It is a historical adventure which brings wonder to the hearts and minds of our visitors. The tour instills a sense of discovery and belonging. Stories from the Bellevue Underground Mine are Canadian experiences: the birth of labor unions, occupational safety, industry, immigration, and transportation.
