week temporary position that runs from August 2018 – March 2019. Rate of pay is $16 per hour
The Curatorial Assistant is responsible for the development and delivery of a special exhibition program bringing 6 Mexico City based contemporary artists for an artist residency. This will be done in collaboration with the existing staff and production team. The individual will work in direct relation and under the supervision of the gallery director and work closely with the curator.
The ideal candidate will have a sincere interest in the role of arts and culture in the development of
community as well as a keen interest in the role of site or location in this development. Students who have recently completed a BFA or MFA in Studio Arts, Art History, or MA Art Education or Curatorial Studies are particularly encouraged to apply. They must be self-motivated and interested in working with a team.
The candidate should be genuinely interested in people and especially observant with exceptional
communication skills. They should have working knowledge of MAC platform computers, able to manage
email, document construction including images as per academic standards, and be unafraid of technology.
A strong interest in contemporary art is mandatory. Oral communication skills in both French and English
will be required, written French will be viewed very favourably. Spanish will be considered an asset.
