Characteristics of City / Region:
The Town of Arnprior is situated "Where the Rivers Meet," at the confluence of the mighty Ottawa and Madawaska Rivers. Arnprior is a thriving community with a population of 8,795 people according to the 2016 Statistics Canada census profile, and it has grown more than 8% since the previous census in 2011. Situated in the downtown core of the Town of Arnprior, the Arnprior and District Museum plays a vital part in the area's heritage and culture. It is only with the anticipated financial support of YCW, and with the help of the students, that the museum can be open 7-days a week in summer, and provide the much-needed historical perspective the community deserves. A listing of cultural events can be found at http://arnprior.ca/ and on the museum website at http://arnprior.ca/town/arnprior-district-museum/.

The Town of Arnprior has just completed its Downtown Revitalization project (http://arnprior.ca/town/notices/plans-and-projects/dtr/) which brought about improvements to infrastructure, streetscape and accessibility. The open-air Arnprior Market made its debut in the downtown core in 2017, just steps from the Arnprior and District Museum, which brought locals and day-trippers to the area. Public consultation has just taken place on revitalizing the town's waterfront, and the Ottawa Senators Foundation is working with the Optimist Club to bring an outdoor rink to our community that will be used for off-season activities too.
For Canada’s 150th birthday celebrations in 2017, the Town of Arnprior compiled a 150 Passport of events and festivities to help residents celebrate throughout the year. Some of the year’s cultural events included:
