An Archive Assistant is needed for the Armstrong Spallumcheen Museum and Art Gallery in Armstrong, B.C.

The Armstrong Spallumcheen Museum and Arts Society is committed to preserving and presenting the history of our people, land, events, and artifacts. To do this, Archive volunteers preserve, administer, and store collections of photographs, artifacts, archival materials, and records in a safe environment. In a variety of ways we offer school groups, community members, and visitors from near and far the opportunity to enjoy ... and learn.

This position is available to post-secondary students (enrolled in a Fall 2018 program) who have an interest in museums, history, and solving the riddle of description-less artifacts. A full-bodied position, the student will work with Archivists to research, complete accurate and factual descriptions, and record data into our onsite Archive Database. Further, working in the Archives area, the student will have the opportunity to conduct museum tours and support the research efforts of others who come in to learn more about the people, land, buildings, and/or events of the City of Armstrong and Township of Spallumcheen.

Beginning May 14, 2018, this position is for 16 weeks ending August 31st, 2018. The student will work 35 hours per week (likely include a Saturday or Sunday) for $12.65 per hour. Working under the supervision of the Administrator and Archivist, the student must be both self-motivated and enjoy working as part of a team. Experience with research and working in a database an asset, but the student must have good oral and written skills.
