General Description:

The Jack Miner Migratory Bird Foundation requires four (4) students to fill the positions of Special Exhibit Development Coordinators. These positions will be 14 weeks in length with a start date of May 28, 2018 and end date of September 01, 2018. Students will be required to work 35 hours a week on a rotating schedule that will include weekdays, weekends, and some evenings at a rate of $14.00 an hour.

Main Duties:

- Develop two special exhibitions based on the Foundation’s historical collection.
- Creating access to the Foundation’s historical collection both electronically and onsite.
- Surveying and organizing the historical collection of the Jack Miner Migratory Bird Foundation.
- Digitizing and encapsulate photographs in adherence to current museum and archival standards.
- Conducting historical research on the Foundation’s collection to develop exhibit themes.
- Assisting with administrative duties such as answering phone calls and responding to e-mails.
- Assisting with summer community events as required. This may include assisting with providing site tours of the museum and historic home, and assisting with educational programing.
- Providing customer service and answering visitor inquires.
- Assisting with cataloging artifacts, documents, and photographs.

Qualifications:

- Candidate must be a student aged 16-30 who was a full-time student in the previous academic year and plans on returning to full time studies in the fall.
- Must be legally entitles to work in Canada.
- Pursuing studies and/or having an interest in history or the humanities with a background in museum or archival studies, library science, public history, or similar field.
- Experience writing exhibit text, digitizing and organizing historical collections would be considered an asset.
- Must be registered with the Young Canada Works online candidate inventory and meet all other eligibility criteria set out by the Young Canada Works program.
