TITLE: Programming Coordinator
HOURS: 30 hours per week (Tuesday – Saturday)
DURATION: May 1th, 2018- August 25th, 2018

Located at the the Tett Centre for Creativity and Learning, Modern Fuel Artist-Run Centre (MFARC) is offering an excellent opportunity for an emerging artist, arts administrator or cultural worker to expand their skills and gain valuable experience. Under the direction of the Artistic and Operations Directors the Programming Coordinator will be responsible for developing, promoting and implementing programming, as well as assisting with the daily operations of Modern Fuel Artist-Run Centre’s galleries and New Media Workspace.
Tasks and responsibilities will include;
- Daily gallery operations, including greeting and tracking visitors
- Provide information about Modern Fuel and current exhibitions to the visiting publics
- Assist with daily administration functions of the gallery, including mail pickup, archive maintenance, and other office duties
- Maintain and update MFARC’s website and social media presence
- Facilitate video and photo documentation of the MFARC’s activities
- Maintain and oversee the rentals of project tools, space and equipment (including hardware and software)
- Assist staff with the planning and implementation of special events and public programs
- Coordinate promotional activities to correspond with events and special programming
- Assist in coordinating Square Pegs video art screening
Qualifications:
- Post-secondary educational background in Fine Arts, Art History, Arts Administration, Film, Museum Studies or other similar program
- A strong knowledge of and passion for contemporary arts practices in Canada
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Attention to detail and excellent organizational skills
- Skills and experience delivering exceptional customer service in a public setting
- Experience with Mac computer systems and basic office programs including database software, email, spreadsheets and word processing programs
- Knowledge and experience using social networking tools such as Twitter and Facebook
- Adaptability, time management, initiative, positive attitude, and attention to detail are desired characteristics
- Bilingualism in both official languages is definitely an asset, but not required for the position
- Certifications in Smart Serve highly desired
