Museum Assistant, Fulford Place Museum

Fulford Place Museum, owned and operated by the Ontario Heritage Trust, is looking for a responsible, enthusiastic student to work as a Museum Assistant for the 2018 summer season. Fulford Place is a 35-room Edwardian mansion with a diverse collection that includes statuary, paintings and furnishings from around the world.

The Museum Assistant will work alongside our staff and volunteers to deliver guided tours and children’s programs, work in the gift shop, and assist with collections care and all other aspects of the operations and administration of the site.

The position will begin on May 14 and continue to September 2, 2018. The salary is $14.00 for a 36.25 hour work week.

Qualifications: The ideal candidate will have excellent public speaking skills, work well independently and in a team situation, and have an interest in history, collections management and/or tourism. Previous work or volunteer experience in a museum, historic site or art gallery, or working with children, will be considered an asset.

Le musée de la Place Fulford, dont la Fiducie du patrimoine ontarien est propriétaire et gestionnaire, cherche un(e) étudiant(e) responsable et enthousiaste pour travailler comme assistant(e) pendant l’été 2018. Place Fulford est un manoir édouardien de 35 chambres avec une collection diverse qui inclue des statues, des peintures et des mobiliers du monde entier.

L’assistant(e) du musée travaillera aux côtés du personnel et des volontaires pour diriger les visites guidées et les programmes pour enfants. Il ou elle travaillera aussi dans la boutique de cadeaux et assistera avec l’aménagement des collections et tous les autres aspects de la gestion et de l’administration du site.

La position commencera le 14 mai et continuera jusqu’au 2 septembre 2018. Le salaire est 14.00 $ / h pour 36.25 heures de travail par semaine.

Qualification : Idéalement, la/le candidat(e) aura un excellent art oratoire, travaillera bien individuellement et dans une équipe, et aura un intérêt dans l’histoire, l’aménagement des collections, et / ou le tourisme. L’expérience dans un endroit historique, dans un musée ou une galerie, ou travaillant avec les enfants, sera considérée comme un atout.
