Job Description
The Programming Coordinator will work closely with Eyelevel’s Director, the Programming Committee, the Eyelevel Board of Directors, and participating artists to coordinate the gallery’s ongoing core exhibitions and members initiatives, as well as organize and execute programming to take place at The Aboriginal Curatorial Collective’s National Gathering, a conference of Indigenous curators, artists, and cultural workers, scheduled for October 2018.

Eyelevel is a not-for-profit charitable artist-run centre in Halifax, Nova Scotia, dedicated to the presentation and promotion of contemporary visual art. Through programming initiatives such as exhibitions, performances and special projects, Eyelevel has established itself as a supportive environment that fosters the research and development of innovative artistic practices. In keeping with this mandate, our staff and volunteers facilitate opportunities for artistic research, exhibition, publication, and augmentative programming.

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE

qualifies for Young Canada Works as a new graduate (within 2 years) http://canada.pch.gc.ca/eng/1459433313024

and has:
excellent organizational skills;
effective communication and writing skills;
knowledge of Halifax’s cultural community, community organizations and businesses;
a creative, innovative, and resourceful work ethic;
experience working in a gallery context and with community initiatives;
the ability to work alone and in a group setting;
basic computer literacy and experience with Microsoft Office and Adobe Creative Suite;
experience working within a budget;
bilingualism is an asset;

and is:
adaptable, able to work evenings and weekends;
a graduate of Fine Arts, Art History, Museum or Cultural Studies, Community Development, or with related education and experience.
