Are you considering a career working in museums with historic artifact collections? A position is available with the PEI Museum & Heritage Foundation for a student having the skills and interest to learn about professional collection management activities. Working with Museum artifact collection staff you will assist them at our collections facility and at our seven sites with a large variety of professional activities revolving around the documentation, presentation, research and preservation of historic artifacts.

This is ideal for someone interested in developing museum employment skills for future work in museums. The PEI Museum and Heritage Foundation comprises seven sites across PEI and manages a large collection of historic artifacts (see: www.peimuseum.ca)

The ideal candidate will have an interest in museums, culture, material history and heritage and be studying at the university or college level in a related field (history, museum studies, art history, conservation/preservation, etc.). The successful candidate will be flexible, enthusiastic, self-motivated, have a good work ethic and the ability to take on a multitude of tasks while working cooperatively with others. An appreciation of the sensitivity required in handling fragile artifacts is necessary. Good computer and digital camera skills with experience using spreadsheets and image manipulation programs are assets.
