The Kelowna Art Gallery is looking to hire two summer student to organize and teach our Art Adventures summer art camps for children and youth ages 3 to 19. The Art Adventures program has been running for over twenty years, and is one of the most popular summer programs in Kelowna. The Art Adventures Supervisor will contribute to public awareness of and access to the programs and services offered by the Kelowna Art Gallery. The supervisor will also be responsible for creating and organizing community outreach initiatives and activities at local festivals and events. Training will be provided on gallery procedures, classroom management, coordinating volunteers, budget management, and working with various age groups of children.

Based on the YCW eligbility requirements, candidates must be full-time college or university students between the ages of 18 and 30 and returning to full-time studies in the fall.

The ideal candidates for this position would possess the following skills:
• Currently enrolled in a college or university program specializing in fine arts, art history, or education.
• Knowledgeable of various art materials and techniques
• A basic level of computer skills and be able to utilize programs like Microsoft Word or Excel
• Experienced working with children and youth
• Experienced developing age-appropriate art activities and lesson plans
• Comfortable speaking with a diverse public
• Organized, self motivated and works well with a team
• Experienced coordinating and supervising volunteers
• First aid training and previous experience in a gallery or museum environment are assets
