In this position, you’ll work with the Managing Director of Biodiversity, the Manager of the Schad Gallery of Biodiversity, and the Program Manager for the Environmental Visual Communication (EVC) Program at the Royal Ontario Museum, to help coordinate and plan communications projects related to current Biodiversity and Natural History research and exhibitions at the ROM.

The EVC Program is an innovative graduate certificate program offered by Fleming College and hosted completely by the ROM, embedded within its Natural History and Biodiversity sections, including the Schad Gallery of Biodiversity. You’ll also get to develop new organizational systems and archives for digital media like videos and photos, and help to curate collections of these files that can be shared and used for a variety of future projects. In this position you’ll be a part of several collaborative communication planning exercises and will learn valuable skills in determining the steps required to follow through from initial brainstorming all the way to implementation. This real-world experience in project management will be done at different scales, from smaller projects like single blogs, to larger projects like major exhibitions (2018 -Spiders) or the planning of a gala event.

Qualifications:

Successful candidates must be a returning student that is enrolled in, or has completed, a post-secondary programs in Communications or Digital Media including Photography, Journalism, Graphic Design, and Multimedia.

Candidates will also be considered from post-secondary Natural History programs such as Biology, Environmental
Science or related conservation-focused program.

At least one year experience working with digital media

At least one year experience with coordinating projects and/or teams of people

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

High degree of comfort working with computers and technology

Ability to work independently as well as part of a team

Proficient in Microsoft Office or equivalent

Proficient in social media tools, including facebook, twitter and instagram, and their respective analytics

Familiarity with the Adobe Creative Suite an asset

French/English bilingualism an asset

Experience with DSLR photography an asset
