Job Summary
Under this project, the selected candidate will be responsible for research and development of educational workshops specifically suited to Fairfields Historic House. Apart from this project, the heritage leader will conduct interpretive tours and dispense historical information to the community, utilizing third-person interpretation techniques. Interacts cooperatively with museum volunteers and an interdisciplinary team. The position also includes some aspects of museum operations, such as, public rental bookings and food services on a limited basis. The candidate acts as a public ambassador by participating in promotional outreach and baseline museum services. These services consist of, but are not limited to, front desk duties, admission fee acceptance, responding to basic public inquiries, assisting with setting up rooms and grounds for public events, assisting with recording visitor statistics, and assisting with visitor evaluations. Ensuring the safety of museum visitors and program participants, as well as assisting with ensuring the security of the museum and its contents is the outmost importance. Occasional opening, closing of the site, cleaning, and gardening duties are required.

Education & Experience
Post Secondary Student (completion of second year College or university). History, Museology, Education, Theatre, Anthropology, Public Relations, Classical Studies, or Related Discipline. Minimum of eight (8) months but less than one (1) year of related experience is required. Experience in working with the public in a client service environment; experience with clients of various ages; experience in research activities.

Language, Certificates & Licenses
English oral, reading, writing required. French oral, reading, writing may be required for some positions.
Candidates must meet language requirement for position upon hire.
Standard First Aid. CPR “C". AODA - Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (legislated training required by 2010); Customer Service (Servability Training).
A Police Record Check is required to work in this position on or before your first day of work.

Knowledge, Competencies & Skills
Intermediate and/or advanced knowledge of MS Word and MS Excel. Familiarity with historic house interpretation is considered an asset.
