The Brooks & District Museum is located in rural Alberta within the City of Brooks and the County of Newell. Brooks has been named “The City of 100 Hello’s” because of the many diversified nationalities that live here. Our area’s largest attraction is Dinosaur Provincial Park, located 45 minutes from Brooks. Over 100,000 people enjoy the park each year and pass through Brooks to visit our facility. The Brooks & District Museum is a small historical village type museum with 17 outside buildings and a main building

The Museum Assistant must have a positive attitude and be a team player, have excellent communication skills as well as computer skills. Student will need intermediate to advanced computer skills including MS Word, MS Excel and MS Access along with basic computer networking knowledge.

This position gives tours and demonstrations to school groups and large groups. Candidate must have effective communication, planning, implementation and organizational skills. Candidate must be able to work with the public and as a team member, answer questions professionally and can give directions, when needed. A portion of the job will include proper artifact cleaning and handling techniques as well as janitorial style cleaning of museum and restrooms.

Knowledge of the County of Newell, Eastern Irrigation District (EID), and surrounding area would an asset.
