The ideal Candidate for the Haida Ambassador position is a self motivated post-secondary student in the General Arts Field with majors in Fine Arts, First Nations Studies, Anthropology, Geography, History, Tourism/Hospitality, Performing Arts, Marketing, Museology or any specific training in Interpretation or combination of education and relevant experience whom posses excellent oral communications skills. The candidate should have basic knowledge of Microsoft Work, and Excel programs along with an understanding of social media networks and the ability to conduct some Internet research. Working individually and in a team environment are very important attributes for this position. All qualified applicants, including visible minorities; disabled persons, women and First Nations will be encouraged to apply through a posted advertisement in the local newspaper and newsletter. Related work experience and knowledge of Haida Gwaii, Haida history, art and/or language will be considered assets and qualifies Haida Candidates will be given priority.

Other Considerations: Candidates must be able to work well in a cross-cultural environment and knowledge of Haida culture and Haida Gwaii history will be considered assets.

Interview Process:
Candidates that qualify will be interviewed by the Executive Director and HHC Operations Manager who will ask general questions to test the person’s suitability for the position as well as having them describe how they would deal with certain situations that are likely to arise in the position, based on previous experience.
