The Provincial Archives of Saskatchewan requires an Archival Technician to work closely with stakeholders in the francophone community in Saskatchewan by digitizing and processing photographs from a francophone collection. This is a bilingual position requiring fluency (verbal and written) in French and English. The position will select, scan, and edit photographs for web publishing and create English-French descriptions to add to a provincial and national database. The Technician will be conducting historical research, subject classification, and creating RAD compliant archival descriptions.

Applicants must meet Young Canada Work's eligibility requirements:
-Canadian citizen or a permanent resident, or have refugee status in Canada (non-Canadian students holding temporary work visas or awaiting permanent status are not eligible)
-are legally entitled to work in Canada
-will be between 16 and 30 years of age at the start of employment
-have finished the school term at the start of the employment
-be registered in the YCW on-line candidate inventory
-are willing to commit to the full duration of the work assignment
-will not have another full-time job (over 30 hours a week) while employed with the program
-have been a full-time student in the semester proceeding the YCW job
-intend to return to full-time studies following the YCW job

You will have knowledge of:
-Historical research and primary source documents
-Standard word processing, database, scanning and image editing software

You will have the ability to:
-Verbally and in writing, communicate in both English and French
-Develop and maintain collaborative relationships and partnerships with colleagues and stakeholders
-Ask clear, concise and relevant questions to obtain sufficient information to provide clients with the appropriate resources and/or services
-Work independently and/or as a contributing members of a variety of teams to complete work assignments, achieve common goals and contribute toward a positive work environment
Plan, prioritize and balance diverse and conflicting workload pressures, taking into consideration task complexity, frequent interruptions and deadlines

Criminal Record Check Requirement: The successful candidate shall be subject to a Criminal Record Check as a condition of employment.

The Provincial Archives of Saskatchewan is the agency responsible for acquiring, preserving and making available records of significance to the history of the Province of Saskatchewan. The Archives holds an extensive and diverse Permanent Collection of historical records which include public documents created by government ranging from the Territorial period to modern day, as well as records from private citizens, businesses and institutions. The Provincial Archives has offices in both Regina and Saskatoon.
