Job Description: Museum Education and Research Assistant
Research, plan, coordinate and market educational programs, activities, exhibits and events with an emphasis on helping the Museum develop and expand both public and school programs as well as new research compilations. Assist in the planning and implementation of Museum programs and events, including a Voyageur themed living history program, an Old Time Photo Booth at the Canada Day celebrations, a Teddy Bear Picnic, and a Community Days parade float.
Build upon the research that has been previously collected for the Haunted Carriage Ride event. Apply research findings and compile a series of short stories about past people and events in Blind River’s history. Organize these stories so that they can be told by re-enactors at this event.

These project-orientated jobs will be meaningful, fun, and challenging and will provide students with strong interpretation and organizational skills.
Students should first and foremost share a love for art and history. They should be self-starters who are outgoing and who work well both individually and as part of a team. Furthermore, they should demonstrate excellent organizational skills and have advanced knowledge of computers and computer accessories.

1. Working towards a degree or certificate related to museum, library, archives, fine art, theatre, history, archeology, education, cultural management, events coordination, or similar fields of study.
2. Excellent working knowledge of computers, such as scanning, image editing, use of cameras, Windows 7, and Microsoft Word, Publisher and Excel.
3. Excellent written and verbal skills.
4. Interest in arts, culture, heritage and education.
5. Certificate in First Aid and CPR an asset.
6. French an asset; English required.
7. Customer service experience preferred.
