The Whitby Public Library is seeking qualified candidates for the above position.

This position is made possible through the Young Canada Works in Heritage Institutions program. This program allows young Canadians to gain practical work experience and to explore career opportunities in the heritage sector while earning money to help pay for their education.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Young Canada Works requires candidates to be between the ages of 16 and 30 and be a high school, college or university student. Preference will be given to candidates who have completed one year of postsecondary education. Excellent communication and organization skills, strong technical skills and critical thinking skills are required. Fluency in English is required. The candidate should enjoy customer service and tutoring or training experience would be an asset. Both maturity and a sense of fun are essential.

POSITION SUMMARY:
The Summer Information Assistant will work in the Reference Department to deliver customer service and provide technical training and assistance to the public. The Assistant may also assist with the Archives Digitization project.

The Assistant will report to the Reference Department Head. This temporary position runs from June 4 – August 24, 2018. 35 hours per week. $15.00 per hour.
