Summer Reading Program Coordinator
16 week term to start May 6, 2018
37.5 hours per week (occasional Saturdays & evenings) @ $14.86/hour
Responsibilities:
Reporting to the Head Librarian, the Summer Reading Program Coordinator will be responsible for the following:
• Plan and implement two summer reading programs for elementary school students
• Promote summer reading programs to local schools (includes developing promotional material and carrying out publicity activities)
• Assist with the organization and delivery of Tween programs
• Recruit, schedule, and supervise volunteers to help with the programs
• Perform library circulation duties
• Undertake other assigned library projects
• Assist with the organization and presentation of special summer events
• Complete a final report, including statistics compilation and program evaluation
Our Ideal Candidate:
• Has experience working with children
• A background in Library and Information Studies, Education, Early Childhood Development is consider an asset
• Has experience with program planning and delivery
• Is self-motivated and able to work independently and effectively in a team environment
• Has effective interpersonal and communication skills including written
• Is a competent computer user, comfortable with Microsoft Suite
• Familiarity with libraries and children’s literature is an asset
• Is a Canadian citizen or a permanent resident or has refugee status in Canada and is legally entitled to work in Canada
• Was a full-time post-secondary student in the semester preceding this position and intends to return to full-time studies in the semester following this position
• Satisfactory background screening including a Criminal Record Check
• Will be between 16 and 30 years of age at the start of employment
