Job Description
The Summer Program Assistant will work closely with the Director/Curator, the Project Coordinator, the Board of Directors, visiting curators, and participating artists to coordinate the gallery’s exhibitions, and execute a series of discursive projects.

About Access
Access Gallery is an artist-run centre with a mission is to create conditions of emergence for provocative ideas and work in the visual arts. We enable critical conversations and risk-taking through new configurations of artists, audience, and community. The organization searches out opportunities to experiment through collaborations (both local and international) that encourage innovation. We aim to bring visibility and critical reception to artists and cultural practitioners when they need it most, at important moments often early in their practices. Access is located in Vancouver’s Chinatown, on the unceded territories of the xʷməθkwəy̓əm (Musqueam), Skwxwú7mesh (Squamish), Stó:lō and Səl̓ílwətaʔ/Selilwitulh (Tsleil-Waututh) Nations.
THE IDEAL CANDIDATE
qualifies for Young Canada Works as a student returning to full time studies in the fall http://canada.pch.gc.ca/eng/1459433313024
and has:
effective communication and writing skills;
excellent organizational skills;
a resourceful work ethic;
experience working or volunteering in a gallery context and/or with community initiatives;
the ability to work both independently and as part of a team
career aspirations within the cultural milieu
some experience working within a budget;
technical expertise related to computer design work and image management;
flexible schedule: is adaptable, and able to work evenings or weekends.
