The Lac La Biche Regional Museum and Discovery Centre is seeking a post-secondary student for a temporary summer position to work as an Archives Assistant. Working with Museum team members, the student will catalogue and stabalise photographic archival material from our Archives.

Duties:

The student will undertake a major project under the supervision of the Museum Manager and Museum Registrar, to catalogue and stabalise photographic archival material. The student will be required to accession and catalogue 4000 photographs from our collection, transfer photographs to archival quality storage as well as create a finding aid for future use.

Qualifications:

The successful candidate will be a post-secondary student majoring in a program related to Archives, Information Studies, Library Sciences, Museum Studies or similar. They will be required to have some experience with the Rules of Archival Description and Archival Conservation best practices, as well as experience with Past Perfect Software or equivalent. They must demonstrate strong attention to detail, have the ability to follow through on projects in an organised and efficient manner and work well both with co-workers and independently.
