Job Description
The Collections Management Assistant will be responsible for identifying and removing any duplicate items from PastPerfect Museum Software; identifying potential themes and artifacts for future online exhibits; and researching the provenance of items within the collection. In addition to these duties, the incumbent will engage with visitors to explain the project and their findings. The project will support future exhibits and better representation at the Hope Museum.

The Hope Visitor Centre and Museum Complex sees upwards of 40 000 visitors annually. The Archival Assistant will be an integral part of the success of the 2018 team. They must be self-motivated with a desire to work closely with the general public.

Qualifications
- Strong customer service skills and organizational skills
- Self-motivated and able to demonstrate initiative
- A consummate team player who is able to work independently
- Excellent communication skills: face-to-face, telephone, and written
- Intermediate-advanced computer skills
- Typing: minimum 60wpm
- English essential – French (or other language) would be considered an asset
- This position is open to high school students and students in any bachelor discipline (though preference will be given to college/university students in: History, Museum Studies, Theatre, Education, Geography, Communications, and English).

Applicants must be registered with Young Canada Works. Eligible applicants must:
- Be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or have refugee status (non-Canadians holding temporary work visas or awaiting permanent status are not eligible);
- Be legally entitled to work in Canada;
- Be between 16 and 30 years of age at the start of employment;
- Be willing to commit to the full duration of the work assignment (note that the Hope Visitor Centre and Museum Complex is open 7 days/week and that successful applicants will be required to work weekends);
- Not have another full-time job (over 30 hours/week) during the YCW work assignment;
- Have been a full-time student (high school, college, CEGEP, or university) in the spring semester; and
- Intend to return to full-time studies in the fall.
