CFMDC Collections Assistants

Canadian Filmmakers Distribution Centre (CFMDC) seeks a Collections Assistant. As Canada's foremost not-for-profit media art distribution organization, we are dedicated to securing the availability and promoting the visibility of independent media art works. Since 1967, CFMDC has been a critical source for programmers, institutions, festivals, educators and museums around the world. Based in downtown Toronto with over 4000 titles in distribution, CFMDC is committed to its role as an advocate for the dissemination of independent visions. The Collections Assistant will work collaboratively with CFMDC's Executive Director, Board of Directors and staff team members to provide administrative and technical assistance in executing our collections maintenance, preservation and digitization plan and public exhibition support for the media in distribution with CFMDC.

Responsibilities include:
Inspecting and reviewing elements of the CFMDC film and video collection
Assisting with database and record keeping
Assisting with media migration, digitization, and website maintenance
Assisting with other media distribution related tasks in marketing and communications

Qualifications:
Well organized, with an ability to multitask and meet deadlines
Strong verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills
Ability to work in a co-operative environment committed to equity and non-discrimination
Proficiency with Macintosh computers
Experience with film editing and digitization software an asset
This is a 15 hour/2 days a week contract position. $14.00/hour. Funding requires the applicant to be:
• be legally entitled to work in Canada.
• be between 15* and 30 years of age at the start of employment (*where permissible under provincial/territorial labour laws).
• meet the specific eligibility criteria of the program to which you apply.
• be registered in the YCW online candidate inventory.
• be willing to commit to the full duration of the work assignment (minimum 15 hours/2 days a week).
• not have another full-time job while employed in a YCW job.
Must be available to start work Nov. 5, 2018 and work for the duration of the 7 week contract to Dec. 21, 2018.
