The Coalition for Music Education in Canada is accepting applications for a summer student position through the Young Canada Works in Both Official Languages Summer Jobs program. This is an excellent opportunity for youth to gain experience and apply diverse communication skills and tools by working with a national bilingual organization. Eligibility:
The Summer Student must:
Be a Canadian citizen and legally authorized to work in Canada
Be between the ages of 15 and 30 years old at the start of employment
Have been a full time postsecondary student during the 2017/18 year and returning as a full time student during the 2018/19 year
Be willing to commit to the full duration of the contract
Not have another full-time job while employed in this position
Students who have fluent French skills in reading, writing and speaking is required

Position Details:
April 30 - July 6, 2018
30 hours/week (6 hours per day)
48 days worked (holidays on May 14 and July 2)
$15.00/hour
Reporting to the Toronto office with meetings on and off site

Requirements
Successful candidates will possess the following skills:
Passion for supporting music and music education
Exceptional computer skills with strong proficiency in web-based programs and MS Office (Word, Excel, Powerpoint)
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Ability to multi-task with several projects
Enthusiastic with a positive attitude
Ability to work independently with an initiative while effectively communicating with the Coalition team
Ability to read, write and communicate in French

Primary Tasks
Liaise with Coalition members, general public, and partners by phone, email and in person
Music Monday 2018
Work with Y4M Toronto Hub to prepare and execute Toronto Music Monday celebration
Follow up with participants for survey responses
Debrief with schools supported financially during Music Monday 2018
Youth4Music
Support projects, events and initiatives through the Youth4Music Program
Assist with preparation and delivery of Youth4Music events and meetings in Ontario
Support an online series focusing on the importance of music in schools by preparing the episode and engaging with youth across the country
Assist with social media communications including newsletter articles, social media posts, and outreach
Update Coalition calendar with national programming for music education
Assist in the support of communications with the Music Tool Suite
