Museum Host/Interpreter

Job Location: North Highlands Community Museum, Cape North, NS

Job Description: Students with skills and interest in the following areas are sought by the North Highlands Community Museum.
Host Interpreter will:
• Host visitors and ensure they have an enjoyable and educational experience
• Provide guided tours of museum exhibits
• Introduce visitors to live museum demonstrations (Settler’s Garden, Blacksmith Forge, Weaving)
• Provide tourists with information about the local area
• Record visitor statistics for required reports
• Assist with gift shop sales
• Supervise use of C@P site computers and provide assistance when needed
• Perform other duties as may be required by management

Qualifications:
• Communication skills
• Interest in working with the public
• Interest in local history and culture
• Basic computer skills
• Willingness to learn and to work as part of a team
• Applicants must have been a full-time student in the semester preceding this job and intend to return to full-time studies in the semester following this job, and be between 16 and 30 years of age
• Previous customer service experience and basic knowledge of spoken French will be considered assets

Wages will be in the range of $10.85/hr for a 40 hour week, for 10 weeks, beginning June 24th and ending August 31st.
