Weaver
Job Location: North Highlands Community Museum, Cape North, NS
Job Description: Students with skills and interest in the following areas are sought by the North Highlands Community Museum. Guides will:
• Learning the operation and care of large and small looms
• Demonstrating and educating visitors in the skills of weaving and the operation of the loom
• Producing woven materials for sale in the gift shop.
• Assisting with historical research pertinent to weaving
• Assisting with demonstrations, workshops and other events
• Perform other duties as may be required by management
Qualifications:
• An interest in learning the skills of weaving
• Strong verbal communication skills
• Friendly manner, positive attitude
• Ability to work well as a team member
• Responsible & dependable
• Applicants must have been a full-time student in the semester preceding this job and intend to return to full-time studies in the semester following this job, and be between 16 and 30 years of age
• Basic knowledge of spoken French will be considered an asset.
Assets:
• Previous weaving experience
• Customer service experience
• Experience handling cash
• Basic computer skills
• Knowledge of local North Highlands history and culture
Wages will be in the range of $10.85/hr for a 40 hour week, for 10 weeks, beginning June 24th and ending August 31st.
