Resurgo Place, the home of the Moncton Museum and Transportation Discovery Centre, offers an array of educational programs and cultural outreach programs. Since its reopening in 2014, the public response has been truly positive. The Moncton Museum remains the keystone of Resurgo Place and offers permanent and temporary exhibitions. The Free Meeting House, next to Resurgo Place, also falls under the scope of the Moncton Museum.
The Education Coordinator – Moncton Museum is responsible for the conceptualization, development, delivery and evaluation of educational activities and interpretation for all Moncton Museum exhibitions spaces. This includes research, development and implementation of family activities and general public informal education initiatives. The Education Coordinator – Moncton Museum will also be responsible for organizing special events such as Canada Day, New-Brunswick Day and Acadian Day celebrations. The Education Coordinator – Moncton Museum supervises a team of Program Leaders who implement all activities as well as offer general interpretation and assistance to all visitors.
The student must have completed one (1) year of university majoring in History, Heritage Studies, Geography, Education or another related field. The student must be familiar with educational programming and supervisory duties. Excellent oral and written communication skills are required. Must be fluently bilingual- French and English. The student must be proficient with Microsoft Word, Outlook, Publisher and Excel. The position requires self-motivation, customer service skills, good organizational skills, attention to detail and ability to work in a team environment. Knowledge of history, geography and culture of Greater Moncton would be an asset.
