Resurgo Place, the home of the Moncton Museum and Transportation Discovery Centre, offers an array of educational programs and cultural outreach programs. Since its reopening in 2014, the public response has been truly positive. The Transportation Discovery Centre offers hands-on and interactive exhibit on transportation. The Learning Centre is open to all visitors and combines free supervised and unsupervised crafts, a reading corner and some unique supervised experiments.
The Education Coordinator - Transportation Discovery Centre and Learning Centre (TDCLC) assists the Heritage Development Officer – Programming with the conceptualization, development, delivery and evaluation of the summer activities pertaining to our Transportation Discovery Centre and Learning Centre, in correlation with industry standards in educational and cultural tourism planning. This includes research, development and implementation of family activities and general public informal education initiatives for both Resurgo Place and the Bore Park presentations. This Education Coordinator will work in conjunction with the Moncton Museum Education Coordinator to organize special events such as Canada Day, New-Brunswick Day and Acadian Day celebrations. The Education Coordinator supervises a team of Program Leaders at Resurgo Place who implement educational programming and activities
The student must have completed one (1) year of university majoring in any Science, Engineering, Geography, Education or another related field. The student must be familiar with educational programming and supervisory duties. Excellent oral and written communication skills are required. Must be fluently bilingual- French and English. The student must be proficient with Microsoft Word, Outlook, Publisher and Excel. The position requires self-motivation, customer service skills, good organizational skills, attention to detail and ability to work in a team environment. General knowledge in most major sciences would be an asset. Knowledge of local geography and transportation history of Greater Moncton would be an asset.
