The Little White Schoolhouse Museum, located in the town of Truro, Nova Scotia, preserves and shares the history of public education and teacher training in Nova Scotia. The museum is a former one-room schoolhouse and portrays life in a rural school in the early 20th century. A basement archives includes records of former students at the Nova Scotia Normal/Teachers College, as well as textbooks, photos and other documents related to education.

The Little White Schoolhouse Museum is hiring a Museum Assistant, to work Tuesdays to Saturdays from June 11 to August 31, 2018. The candidate must be a Canadian student between 16-30 years old, enrolled in a post-secondary institute, and returning to studies in the fall of 2018. The position is for 35 hours per week, with salary of $11.00 per hour.

The ideal candidate for the Museum Assistant position will:
-be enrolled in museum studies or history. Consideration will be given to students of archaeology, education and library studies.
-have excellent English verbal and written communication skills.
-have strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office
-be friendly and be comfortable speaking to large and small groups
-be willing to dress in period costume
-be adaptable, able to work independently or as a team
-have excellent time management skills

The following qualifications are desired but not essential:
-ability to communicate verbally in French
-training in First-Aid and a valid Police Security Check
-experience working/volunteering in museums
