The area has become a major tourist destination with numerous summer villages throughout the area. The landscape is picturesque with rolling hills, farmland and a view of the Rock Mountains. The Museum is a major attraction along the Scandinavian Trail and boasts 5000 artifacts and 14 acres of land with Danish gardens, walking trails, small Danish church, small man made lake, children's garden of imagination, authentic Viking ship (built in Roskilde, Denmark) and “Naust” (boathouse), Verbena Dormitory, historic buildings, Saga Café and Gift Shop, and much more. The summer season hosts several Danish cultural events such as Aebleskiver Days and Viking Days.
The Museum Interpreter – Cultural Event Coordinator will need to be dedicated, energetic, versatile, flexible, well organized and with the ability to take initiative. The level of knowledge, skills and abilities required to deliver all aspects of this position are commonly acquired through post-secondary and/or certification in Museum Studies, History Studies, General Arts, Recreation Administration, Hospitality Management or equivalent studies. Prior work experience in museums (historical centers), tourism industries and nonprofits is an added advantage.
