Assistant on Site Manager Positions

The Museum Board of Directors has applied for a grant to help with funding of 2 positions for Assistant on Site Managers through Young Canada Works.


Young Canada Works (YCW) Student Eligibility Criteria
Students must:
• be legally entitled to work in Canada;
• be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident or have refugee status in Canada (Note: Non-Canadian students holding temporary work visas or awaiting permanent status are not eligible.);
• be between 16 and 30 years of age at the start of YCW employment;
• have been a full-time student (as defined by the educational institution) in the semester preceding their job with YCW;
• intend to return to full-time studies in the semester following their job with YCW;
• be willing to commit to the full duration of the work assignment;
• not have another full-time job (over 30 hours a week)while employed with YCW; and
• be registered in the YCW online candidate inventory (www.youngcanadaworks.gc.ca).

Duration of Employment
Both positions start on May 9,2018 and terminate on Aug 29,2018. Students will be working a 7 hour day including some weekends at the museum in Frenchman Butte.

Wages
The wage offered is $17.50 an hour for 35 hours a week.

Language
Candidates must be fluent in English.

Job Description
Successful candidates will work with the museum directors to:
-assist with school group tours by helping with hands on demonstrations.
-help with the daily management of the museum and grounds.
-conduct visitor tours when needed.
-help prepare for and participate in the annual festival on Aug 12, 2018
-work on displays and care for artefacts.
Being a relatively small museum, other duties will be necessary at times.

If you are a student with basic computer skills, like working with the public, are a reliable team worker, and have some interest in history, this may be the job for you.

The Frenchman Butte Museum is in a small hamlet of approx. 55 people. The area around the hamlet is full of history with many sites to visit. Fort Pitt, Frenchman Butte Battle grounds of 1885 Rebellion, Steele Narrows just a few to mention. The hamlet is situated along the North Saskatchewan River and 3/4 of an hour from the city of Lloydminster.
At this point, the Board of Directors are advertising these positions before a Young Canada Works funding decision has been made.
