Canada South Science City is the science centre for the region of southern Ontario. Its mission is to advance the understanding and appreciation of science, its principles and applications, and it does this through hands-on exhibits as well as tours and public forums. The Program Coordinator is a key person responsible for coordinating and supporting our summer programs at Canada South Science City in 2018. These programs include tours, workshops, an exhibit about the locally born black inventor Elijah McCoy (1844 – 1929), science-based birthday parties, and a new program on vertical farming, food safety, and nutrition that partners seniors with youth. The Program Coordinator will train volunteers and others to help in their successful delivery.
The candidate should be a postsecondary student able to express excitement for sharing the discovery of science and its applications to diverse groups of potential visitors and supporters of our science centre. Applicants should have practical knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel, and excellent communication skills. The position is open to post-secondary students and is particularly beneficial to those wanting a career in science, education, or project management, and working with non-profit organizations. There is one position available.
Employment period 10 weeks, From October 15, 2018 to December 21, 2018.
Pay is $14/hour plus 4% vacation pay for 18 hours/week.
