The successful applicant will be trained in the trade of blacksmithing to act as an Apprentice to the Blacksmiths at the Green Family Forge and to provide guided tours to the visitors at the Forge. The person should have an interest in the area of blacksmithing, be willing to learn a new trade and be able to work with others as well as on their own.
The project will commence about June 15, 2018 and is to be completed no later than September 1, 2018. The location of work is at the Green Family Forge, West Street, Trinity, NL. The hourly wage will be $11.00/hr and will be for 35 hrs/wk.
The position requires a knowledge of Trinity Historical Society, its aims, objectives, the history of Trinity and the province. Prior experience with working in a museum environment would be an asset, as well as the completion of courses in Engineering or Mechanics, or the plan to pursue such an education upon completion of high school. Person should possess an interest in history and culture and be willing to complete demonstrations in blacksmithing before the general public. Good communication skills are essential. Basic French and fluency in English is required for this position. Trinity Historical Society is an equal opportunity employer.
