Pour le poste d’assistant à la gestion de la collection, le candidat doit avoir un intérêt pour l’industrie de la musique et de l’enregistrement, avec un profil en muséologie, en histoire de l’art, en histoire de la technologie ou d’un champ d’étude similaire. Il doit être intéressé par les détails, fiable, sympathique, motivé et autonome, capable de s’adapter à un groupe de bénévoles d’âge et de profil diversifiés. Des habiletés informatiques dans un environnement Mac sont un atout. La recherche d’informations, l’entrée de données et la prestation de visites guidées sont les responsabilités principales du poste. Le candidat devra avoir de l’entregent et un bon caractère. Le Musée encourage la participation de candidats issus de toutes les minorités. En raison de la vétusité de l’immeuble, le Musée ne peut actuellement accommoder de candidats possédant des limitations de mobilité importantes.
Le Musée des ondes Emile Berliner est situé près de la station de métro Place Saint-Henri dans l’arrondissement du Sud-Ouest, à quelques minutes du centre ville de Montréal.
The MOEB is a bilingual museum dedicated to the research, collection and public education concerning the history of sound recording and electromagnetic wave technology. Home of the museum is the historic RCA Victor factory in Saint Henri, which goes back to Emile Berliner’s Montreal world headquarters of the Berliner Gram-O-phone Company, Canada’s first disc and gramophone company.
For the position of a Collection Management Assistant, the fitting candidate should have an interest in the recording and music industry, with a background in museum studies, art history, history, history of technology or similar academic fields. You should be detail oriented, reliable, friendly, self-motivated, and adaptable to a team of volunteers of different background and age. Good computer skills in a Mac environment are an asset. Research, detailed data entry and offering guided tours to the public will be a major part of your responsibilities. The applicant should have an outgoing character and good social skills. The museum is encouraging applications from candidates of all minorities. Because of the historic character of the building, we cannot accommodate applicants with severe mobile disabilities.
The Musée des ondes Emile Berliner is close to the Place Saint Henri Metro Station in Montreal’s South-West borough, just a few minutes away from downtown Montreal.
