The Koffler Gallery is seeking a friendly, energetic and organized individual with an interest in gaining valuable experience within the field of digital arts programming. Working in a creative and vibrant setting, the Digital Content Assistant will work closely with the Digital Content Coordinator in researching, developing and implementing programming initiatives for Koffler.Digital, an innovative digital platform that provides accessible and engaging artistic content. The Digital Content Assistant will help design, brand and market forthcoming Koffler.Digital programs by creating illustrations, animations and other forms of integrated media. Daily administrative tasks also include: assisting with the planning, coordination, and management of Koffler.Digital programs, as well as managing and reporting the results of various digital analytical tools. This position also includes a research component in which the candidate will research development and innovation within the following sectors: UIUX, web and mobile development, technology and design, branding, marketing and publishing.
Koffler.Digital operates under the umbrella of the Koffler Centre of the Arts and the Koffler Gallery with a mandate to provide a virtual space where artists working in the field of new media/new genres are able to create, experiment and develop new work; and where conversation and dialogue between artists, activists and creatives is encouraged and documented. Koffler.Digital is committed to the intersection of social justice and artistic practice that is central to the mandate of the Koffler Centre of the Arts and the Koffler Gallery.

Digital Content Assistant
• 16 week position
• Starts: Wednesday, May 1st, 2018
• Ends: August, 17th, 2018
• Wage: $15.00/hr for 37.5 hrs/wk
Description of tasks:
-Be present in the Koffler Gallery office 5 days/week, attending weekly staff meetings, programming meetings, and one-on-one meetings with the Digital Content Coordinator
- Assist with ongoing programming tasks, such as program coordination, proposal development, general administrative duties, and program delivery
- Conduct ongoing research into topics that relate to new media/new genres, as well as topics of importance to community and arts organizations both nationally and internationally
-Research and present innovation and redesign proposals to the Koffler.Digital website
-Design and build website pages for new Koffler.Digital programs
-Create and maintain workflow charts for Koffler.Digital website page design
-Illustrate and animate promotional content for past and upcoming Koffler.Digital initiatives and programs, to be shared on various social media platforms
-Create weekly analytical reports on the performance of all social platforms, including Koffler.Digital website
-Research and develop materials for new Koffler.Digital initiatives, including XYZ: Zines from Analogue to Digital
-Assist in the development and delivery of XYZ
-Assist in general outreach to develop new partnerships with artists, tech professionals and organizations
Candidate Profile:
• Full-time post-secondary students aged 30 and younger (at the start of employment) who are intending to return to full-time studies in the next academic semester in Cross-Disciplinary Art, Digital and Media Studies, Graphic Design, Web Design and Development, or a related field is mandatory
• Excellent written and oral communication skills, including presentation experience
• Excellent organizational and research skills
• Ability to multi-task and work well independently and within a team
• Strong interpersonal skills
• Proficiency in the use of: Standard Office software (such as Word and Excel) as well as Communications / document sharing software (such as Gmail, Google Calendar, and Google Drive)
• Proficiency in the use of: Wordpress, Instagram, Twitter, and any other recently developed social media platforms
• Ability to work 30 to 40 hours per week for all sixteen (16) weeks (mandatory), from May to late August
• Eligible for Young Canada Works In Heritage Organizations (summer jobs for students): are a Canadian citizen or a permanent resident, or have refugee status in Canada (non-Canadians holding temporary work visas or awaiting permanent status are not eligible); are legally entitled to work in Canada; will not have another full-time job (over 30 hours a week) during the Young Canada Works (YCW) work assignment; have been a full-time college or university student (as defined by their educational institution) in the semester preceding the YCW work assignment; and intend to return to full-time studies in the semester following the YCW work assignment
• Fluency in another language is an asset
• Experience with SEO, Google Analytics and other digital marketing tools is an asset
