Job Description:
The Interpretive Centre Guide will provide visitor services centred in the Gardens Interpretive Centre, adding to the visitor experience in the Historic Gardens. As well as answering questions and providing information, the student will conduct visitor surveys to help inform our future planning. The student will also assist staff and volunteers in further research on the various uses of these lands over the centuries, with a goal of improving the authenticity of the heritage experience at the Annapolis Royal Historic Gardens. One of the key areas of study currently is the use of these lands as an encampment area by the Mi’kmaq as they travelled the Allain’s River.

Qualifications:
• The candidate should have an interest in heritage and tourism, and in gardening/horticulture.
• The candidate must have excellent interpersonal skills, be trustworthy, be a team player and be able to work independently with minimal supervision.
• The candidate must be comfortable working with various technology including computers and cash registers.
• The Historic Gardens always encourage the participation of targeted job equity groups in our programmes and employment opportunities.
• The candidate must be fluent in English and be able to converse well in French. Other languages are an asset.
