General Summary
The successful candidate will guide visitors and students through the Bodo Archaeological Site & Centre, oversee kids days camps, assist with school tours, provide day-to-day tourism support, drive tourists in a van to and from the archaeological site, provide assistance on day to day operational tasks. Operational tasks include (but are not limited to) maintaining center cleanliness, assisting in the gift shop, responding to inquiries, recording and managing tour/program bookings, and maintaining interpretive displays. Laboratory artifact analysis may include organizing and cataloguing of lithic, ceramic, and faunal materials. Some archaeological fieldwork may be required.

Principal Duties & Responsibilities
• Guide visitors and students through the Bodo Archaeological Centre & Site.
• Prepare and oversee kids days camps and assist with school tours.
• Assist with interpretive program development.
• Provide day-to-day tourism support, this includes driving tourists in a van to and from the archaeological site.
• Maintaining center cleanliness.
• Assisting with gift shop pricing, stocking, and sales.
• Assisting with managing the Bodo email account, telephone calls, website, and social media.
• Responding to inquiries and recording and managing tour/program bookings.
• Maintaining interpretive displays.

Qualifications
• Preference will be given to individuals with at least 2+ years of undergraduate training or those enrolled in graduate school, in the fields of archaeology, anthropology, museum studies, education and/or other related fields.
• Must be a full-time student in the semester preceding the job and intend to return to full-time studies in the semester following.
• An interest in Great Plains and Parkland archaeology.
• Experience working with the public and children, preferably in an interpretive capacity.
• Possess an Alberta Class 4 Driver's License (or equivalent).
• Undergo a criminal record check.
• Valid first aid and CPR training.

Skills
• Excellent communication, teamwork, time management, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently when needed.
• Enthusiasm, creativity, and initiative are mandatory.
• Flexibility and adaptability are also mandatory.
• Enthusiasm working with the public, especially children, in an interpretive and educational capacity.
• Previous archaeological lab and field experience is an asset.
• Computer, Internet and audio-visual skills are necessary.

Effort
• This position requires that you live part time (most of the time from early May to the end of August) in the local community. Assistance will be provided to locate housing if required. Must work various hours and be readily available at all times, including evenings, weekends and holidays.
