SUMMER CURATORIAL ATTENDANT

DUTIES:
Reporting to the Heritage Service Coordinator, the Curatorial Attendant will assist in the cataloguing the Town of Richmond Hill’s Historical Collection to meet the Standards for Museums required by the Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Sport and the Town of Richmond Hill. Duties will include classifying and labeling artifacts, research, completing required forms, maintaining files, assisting staff and volunteers, ensuring the safe storage of the collection and the cleanliness and organization of the storage facility. Other duties will include assisting with exhibition set up in the delivery of programs and events as required.

Qualifications:
The successful candidate will be a responsible, highly organized and self motivated individual who is a team player with the ability to adjust to working on their own with minimal supervision. Essential skills are well developed written/verbal communication. A background working with artifacts in a historical setting is desirable. Satisfactory police check.

PERIOD OF EMPLOYMENT: June 4 to August 24

HOURS OF WORK:
30 hours per week/ 12 weeks

RATE OF PAY: $14.00 per hour

The Curatorial Attendant position is dependent on funding from the Canadian Heritage Young Canada Works program (YCW). Candidates for the position must:
• be legally entitled to work in Canada;
• be a Canadian citizen or a permanent resident, or have refugee status in Canada (unfortunately, non-Canadian students holding temporary work visas or awaiting permanent status are not eligible);
• be between 18 and 30 years of age at the start of employment;
• intend to return to full-time studies in the fall of 2018.
