Job description:
Reporting to the National Music Centre’s Publicist, the Communications Assistant will play an important role in the National Music Centre’s Marketing team. The Communications Assistant will assist in social media campaigns, media events and hosting, and content development for nmc.ca.
Responsibilities:
Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
• Support summer marketing activities for the National Music Centre (NMC).
• Help monitor and coordinate content for NMC’s social media channels and provide key performance indicator (KPI) reporting.
• Manage social media contesting.
• Provide support for, and assist in, media pitching and interview coordination.
• Generate original content for NMC’s online magazine, Amplify.
• Support operations of the NMC Street Team, which attends summer festivals and events.
• Provide overall administrative support to the marketing team.
• Assist in ensuring that the integrity of the NMC brand is maintained in all external and internal communications.
• Attend events as required.
Qualifications:
• Enrolled in a post-secondary program in September 2018 in Journalism, Communications, Marketing, Public Relations or a related field.
• Exceptional verbal and written communication skills and attention to detail.
• Strong organization and project management skills.
• Competent social media marketing skills.
• Experience working with the media, specifically media events, drafting pitches and coordinating interviews is considered an asset.
• Training on DSLR cameras, microphones, and other photography/audio/visual recording equipment is considered an asset.
• Basic graphic design/layout skills and familiarity with Adobe InDesign, Photoshop and Illustrator on a Mac platform.
• Must be able to work some evenings and weekends as required.
• Familiarity with content management systems (ex: WordPress) is considered an asset.
• Bilingualism (English and French) is considered an asset.
• A passion for music, musical knowledge or musical skill is an asset.
