The Historic 1000 Islands Village Foundation operating as the Arthur Child Heritage Museum (ACHM) of the 1000 Islands, established in 1995, is a registered charity, dedicated to the acquisition, preservation, interpretation and study of the unique tangible and intangible heritage of the natural environment and the people who have and do live in the region now known as Leeds and the Thousand Islands, as well as a focus on Gananoque.

We require two students to work as museum interpreters/programmers on site from May 14th to September 3rd, 2018.

The workweek is based on 37.5 hours per week, and includes weekends, at a rate of $14 per hour. Work includes providing interpretive guided tours of the Museum, providing tourist information to visitors, performing gift shop sales, assisting with the planning and delivery of special events and delivering children’s educational programmes and activities.

Candidates should be comfortable in dealing with the public and have an interest in history, museology and/or tourism. Candidates should be responsible and reliable. Knowledge of French will be considered an asset. Preference will be given to candidates with a secondary school graduation diploma. Must meet Young Canada Works eligibility criteria. This position is conditional upon funding approval.
