This position involves presenting on-site and outreach educational programs about nature and wildlife, with a particular focus on reptiles, to crowds of 30-500+ people, at a wide variety of venues such as provincial and national parks, libraries, summer camps, etc. Husbandry of live animals used in the programs will be an important task, as well as facility and trail maintenance, invasive species removal, and development of new programs. Participation in turtle, snake, and salamander field research will also be important at specific times. On-site accommodation may be available.

Strong oral communication skills, comfort with public speaking, and excellent people skills are required. The ability to adapt to flexible schedules and travel plans is essential, as well as the ability to live and work closely with other team members in a hectic, fast-paced environment. Class G (or equivalent) driver’s license is preferred. Completion of at least one year of a post-secondary program in the biological or ecological sciences or a related field is preferred. For field work, the ability to work outdoors in a variety of environmental conditions including cold, heat, biting insects, etc. is important.
