Short Description:

Morningstar Mill is a small, rural industrial heritage site owned by the City of St. Catharines and operated in partnership with the Friends of Morningstar Mill. It features a working grist mill built in 1872, a turbine shed, a sawmill, a blacksmith and carpentry shop and the historic home of the Morningstar family. The Mill provides a rare glimpse back in time to when moving water was used to mechanically grind grain into flour.

The Museum Assistant will interpret and provide tours of the site to public, assist with cataloguing, research and photographing the collection, and assist with event planning for a Teddy Bear Picnic on July 8, 2018.


Qualifications: The applicant must be enrolled in full-time, post-secondary studies in Museum Studies, History or a related field and be returning to full-time studies in the Fall 2018, and must provide a supporting confirmation letter from your Registrar’s Office. Must be eligible to work in Canada, be a Canadian citizen or permanent resident and be between the ages of 16 -30 years. Proficient in Microsoft Office, Adobe Graphics Software is an asset. Applicants should possess strong organizational skills, the ability to work independently, an aptitude for oral and written communication, attention to detail, have volunteer and interpersonal skills, and have an interest in technology and historic homes. Applicants must be able to work on weekends. A valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle is highly desired, as there is no public transportation available to and from the site.
