1 temporary full-time position for 12 weeks starting in May 2018, intended specifically for students currently attending and returning full-time in September 2018, to a post-secondary undergraduate or graduate degree program.

The City of Edmonton Archives is looking for a motivated, energetic and self-starting summer student who is interested in learning about archives.

In a supportive and supervised environment, you will gain practical experience in important aspects of archival work through processing municipal government records.

This is an ideal position for a graduate student enrolled in a Master of Information Studies with a specialization in Archival Studies or a related field (although undergraduate students are eligible and encouraged to apply as well).
Reporting to the Digital Archivist, you will complete two projects and experience a range of archival tasks including:
• Physically arranging and describing a body of records
• Assisting with reference service

Qualifications
• Demonstrate a strong interest and desire to work in archives
• Demonstrate proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google Docs
• Demonstrated ability to research, analyze and produce reports
• Ability to establish priorities and effectively handle multiple tasks with attention to detail
• Highly energetic with excellent communication skills
• Ability to self-motivate and work collaboratively in a team environment
• Experience in archives or related field is an asset but not necessary

Note: This position is subject to the receipt of a Young Canada Works grant. The hired individual must meet the funder's requirements.

Hours of Work: 33.75 hours per week, Monday - Friday.
Salary: $18.612 – 23.687 (Hourly)
