requires a Community Programs & Outreach Assistant (summer position)

The Community Programs and Outreach Assistant will develop and deliver new STEAM (Science, Technology, Education, Arts and Math) education programs and outreach activities for the Huron County Museum. In addition to dynamic public programming onsite and at community events, the successful candidate will welcome summer visitors at the front desk of the museum and gaol.

This is a Young Canada Works in Heritage Institutions position. Applicants must be 16 to 30 years of age, Canadian citizens, permanent residents, or have refugee status in Canada. They must be legally entitled to work in Canada, willing to commit to the full duration of the work assignment, not have another full-time job (over 30 hours a week) during the Young Canada Works work assignment, and have been a full-time student in the semester preceding the YCW work assignment, and intend to return to full-time studies in the semester following the YCW work assignment. Priority will be given to students who have not previously participated in a summer work experience program.

Candidates must be available between May & September and clearly outline their eligibility for YCW in their resume or cover letter.

Qualifications:

Post-Secondary student studying a related field with an interest in Canadian history or local history and enthusiasm for engaging the public with heritage

An interest or background in STEAM (science, technology, engineering, arts, math) subjects

Excellent communication skills

Experience working with youth

Proficiency with Microsoft software

G Driver's licence

Experience with cash and customer service an asset
